About Yvette
I Love To Bake
I love to bake. I always liked to bake, but it really became a passion of mine starting in 2019. I mean, I had always been able to make chocolate chip cookies out of a tube, and I could make a box cake with the best of them. But once I started stepping outside my comfort zone—and quite literally working outside the box—I quickly realized that I was on to something!
Since my first baking experiments, I’ve baked countless items: cakes, cookies, bars, pastries, breads, you name it. And I’m always trying to come up with new ideas for recipes. Having both studied and worked in the sciences, I enjoy applying the scientific method to my baking. I try something, then tweak the recipe a little, try it again, and that cycle keeps repeating until I’m satisfied.
Prior to the pandemic, I was involved in local community theatre productions, both as a performer and a choreographer. So, when COVID hit, baking really became my creative outlet. After a couple years of baking for friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers, I finally decided to take their advice and open a bakery towards the end of 2021. At that time, I was working full-time as a Physician Assistant. Baking was my side gig, and that’s where I expected it would stay. But I had no idea how much my bakery business would grow… now it is my full-time job! While working as a PA was rewarding, I am more passionate about baking, so I think this career shift was the right move for me.
I’m grateful for the support of every single customer I have, and I’m excited to keep bringing my baked goods to more people. I truly find joy in watching others enjoy my bakes, so that’s what I want to keep on doing!
About the bakery name
My original bakery name was Hound It Down Bakery, in reference to my two basset hounds, who LOVE to eat. However, I ran into significant (understandable) confusion—many people assumed they were dog treats. So, as much as I loved the name, I decided rebranding was probably for the best. I spent a great deal of time trying to decide on a new name. I elicited ideas from many people during the brainstorming period, and there were a lot of great ones. I ultimately decided on Take Two Bakery, because it’s the most meaningful to me. It actually has four meanings:
- It’s a nod to my background in community theatre. I got a minor in Theatre in college, and I’ve been involved with many theatrical productions as an actor, dancer, singer, and choreographer.
- Baking is my second career. I worked as a Physician Assistant for 10 years.
- It’s the second bakery name. 😉😂
- And finally, “Because one just isn’t enough!” That’s the new tag line, and it’s a sentiment I’ve heard from quite a few customers!

Do you make gluten-free baked goods?
Yes, I have gluten-free versions of some of my baked goods; see my menu page for more details on those. However, my gluten-free options are prepared in a kitchen that also processes foods with gluten in them, although utensils are cleaned between the two.
Do you make cakes?
No, I no longer do custom cakes. However, I make custom cake pops and cupcakes.
Do you do weddings?
Yes! Please contact me to discuss.
Do you deliver?
Yes, on a case-by-case basis, for an additional fee.
Do you deliver to Epic?
Yes! I have had multiple out-of-town customers place orders to be delivered to family/friends at Epic. (I live close to Verona.)
What can you make as a home baker?
As a home baker in Wisconsin, I can only sell “non-potentially hazardous” products, which basically means I’m only able to sell food that does not require refrigeration. So, for example, I could not sell a quiche. However, this has recently expanded to include non-potentially hazardous items that do not have a baked element (like candy), so keep an eye on my menu for new items coming soon! Take a look at the Wisconsin State Journal article on my Media & Testimonials page for more info on that!
Can you sell and ship out of state?
Unfortunately, no, not right now, but this will hopefully be changing in the future.
What is your refund policy?
Full refund minus processing fees if cancelled greater than 1 week out from delivery/pick up date. 50% refund if cancelled between 2 days and 1 week out from delivery/pick up date. No refund if cancelled within 2 days of delivery/pick up date.
